The last 4 years in our Texas house facility has been great, but the time has come for expansion into Phase 2 of the plan. We need more work area. Currently, we are spending too much time setting up and breaking down equipment and machinery. This is slowing down progress, but we are moving forward. We also need more grow area for our Solar Indoor Temperature controlled environment as well as more outdoor grow areas.
Along with this, we would like to also prepare for Phase 3; the integration of animals such as Bees, Chickens, Fish, Crustaceans, Mollusks and Goats into this partially contained ecosphere.
For these requirements, the minimum acreage suggested is 2 acres. Anything less could not handle the biological load. Even at 2 acres, one would need to completely utilize the acreage. Additional acreage will give the benefit of creating living ponds and food foraging forests. This part is crucial for creating an abundant permaculture ecosystem designed for human consumption.
The philosophy that we are carrying is more about the quality of the land usage and care. We do believe in the necessity of the large acreage farm that currently supports our society, but for ourselves, we believe in local small community centric farms. Over 40 acres of land is too much for us at this time.
This philosophy lends more toward smaller local community farms and residential growing. Basically in a nutshell, we believe more in smaller 20 acre farms spread out throughout all communities. Rather than one large 1000 acre centrally located single owner farm, we would rather see 50 individually owned separate but cooperative 20 acre farms spread through multiple communities and areas; eventually leading to incorporation of the automated iGrow for residential and personal use.
Eating more locally grown food reduces the transportation carbon footprint, and just tastes GOOD!
